Last month I'd mentioned that we'd be offering eyebrow and eyelash services. We weren't totally happy to give up our staff area, but we're ecstatic with the end result. Keeping in line with the decor in the salon, we kept the same tones flowing throughout the shop. Once again Steve Klaui worked his paint brush magic and worked around us so not to disturb customers too much. We've replaced the black/gold and Audrey Hepburn curtains with long and flowing silver drapes made by Chrissy & Sophie from C & S At Home Ltd. Thanks Sophie for suggesting the chandelier because it creates a nice ambiance to the room. Carmelita's beautician experience influenced the choice of chair to get, of which clients have found very comfortable. Many have already experienced the new changes, you'll now be able to have your eye services at the same time as your hair appointment.
Last winter there were some real bitter days hence the reason for installing a heatpump to ensure the salon will be cosy on those cold wintery days. Funny enough we've had it on a couple of times this month as the temperature is cooling, but not for long. Thanks Jay for installing it on a day that the rest of the nation were watching the Black Caps.

Salon Training

This months salon training focused on colour theory, what colours are in for Autumn & Winter and colour techniques. Kat and Carmelita are looking forward to sharing these ideas with you. You can expect exciting colours such as cappucino, pecan, warm brown & copper tones. Or if you have your own colour ideas feel free to bring in a picture.

Village News

A couple of Saturdays ago the village was busier than usual. Over at the Khandallah hall there was a fundraiser going on. In fact I caught a glimpse of what I was going to have for breakfast so I toddled on over to take a look. Inside there were home made baking lots of knick knacks, face painting and more food. I thought the live band that played were really good. The event brought a nice buzz to the village and I hope more events like this will continue.

Easter Break

A reminder that we will be closed Good Friday, Easter Saturday & Easter Monday. This also means the start of the school holidays. To the many that will be traveling over this period, safe journey and have a great Easter break. I'll look forward to our little chat next month.....

It's great to see the Village back to its lively self as businesses are now operating their usual hours as people have returned to work and kids are back at school. Having Waitangi Day off was a treat as it meant a long weekend for most and we were treated by one of our clients who gave us tickets to attend the rugby 7's. Kat and friends went along on the Friday, then Carmelita and I went on the Saturday. It was bitter cold on the Friday but we were treated to a magnificent day on the Saturday, which was a day for hat and sunblock, except Carmelita didn't slip or slap and she got burnt. I have to say it is the first 7s that I'd been too whereby I watched pretty much all of the games. Probably because the spectators were well behaved! So thanks Mike and Caroline for making it happen.
Following on from last month's salon training - consultation. We invited two models to come in and tell the girls what they wanted. The aim of this training was to identify areas for improvement, particularly with the consultation process. The process
consists of determining what the client wants, if there are any issues, what process can be used to achieve the outcome, recommended retail, price etc. Ben was happy for Carmelita to colour his hair but didn't want anything too 'out there' because of his job, so Carmelita pre-lightened his hair to a warm chocolate tone. Kat added warm tones of reds to Jacinta's hair and straightened her natural curls to reflect the colours that were used. Many thanks to our two models and Sinead for sharing her technical expertise with the girls and we look forward to seeing her next month.
Some clients have had to persevere with a little inconvenience whilst we underwent more shop makeover. We are presently advertising that we now do eyelash extensions, eyebrow & eyelash tinting and eyebrow shaping. From next month, we will be able to provide a more private setting for these services. When making an appointment please be aware that eyelash extensions can take up to 2 hours to perform.
